The Andalusian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FAMP) presented COASTRUST at the second edition of the International Fair for Natural Areas – AIRE, held in the city of Cordoba (Andalusia, Spain) on 10 December.
Promoted by the Ministry of Sustainability and Environment of the Andalusian Regional Government, the Provincial Council of Cordoba and the Cordoba City Council, AIRE is a platform to highlight the strategic role of the entire professional ecosystem of parks and natural areas. It has been conceived as a meeting point for the entire sector of natural areas, bringing together activities, suppliers, professional services and destinations. Thus, it serves as a dynamic instrument for initiatives linked to the conservation and activation of natural resources, the local development of natural areas and green entrepreneurship.
In this context, FAMP was provided with a specific exhibition space equipped with promotional material and audiovisual resources to present COASTRUST in such a relevant forum in Andalusia with international dimension. FAMP’s participation at the fair also allowed to disseminate the project’s methodology, aims and principles among local authorities, NGOs and SMEs attending the event. Moreover, FAMP could discover solutions related to the management of natural spaces that may complement the implementation of COASTRUST in the municipality of Níjar, FAMP’s pilot area in Andalusia.
In parallel, the fair represented a valuable opportunity to get to know other projects working in similar thematic areas, as well as to
network with national and international agents with which to establish potential synergies in the field of COASTRUST implementation. Likewise, the multiplicity of perspectives raised enriched the participatory process initiated at the end of November in Níjar with the local actors identified in the pilot area.
