Organized by the Regional Agency DUNEA, the COASTRUST project, which aims to preserve the environment and improve the quality of life in the Dubrovnik-Neretva County, was presented to local stakeholders from the Neretva Valley on December 19 in an online format.
The presentation was followed by representatives of various sectors, including regional and local government and self-government units, educational institutions, non-governmental organizations and other interested stakeholders. The representative of the DUNEA Regional Agency, Jasna Prskalo Kasumović, emphasized the importance of involving local stakeholders in the project’s activities and presented the ways of their involvement, as well as the expected results of the project.
As a reminder, the COASTRUST project is based on the establishment of an environmental management model that integrates local and regional communities and stakeholders from multiple sectors. Ultimately, the goal is to improve the management of natural resources on land and sea and to create strategies that can be replicated beyond the boundaries of the project.
Following the project methodology, the Regional Agency DUNEA will create Guidelines for the preservation of biological diversity of the Neretva Valley in cooperation with local stakeholders. Conservation of biological diversity, which is of key importance for human health and well-being, is one of the greatest global challenges. After the preparation of the Guidelines, the realization of some of the priority measures of the Guidelines in the area of the Neretva Valley is also planned.
