SUSDEF organised at January 21st event named:” Towards joint coastal management“, as part of the COASTRUST project dedicated to joint coastal management. The event took place at Domus de Maria, with the support of the Municipality of Domus de Maria.
The meeting was an important moment to start a dialogue with local administrations, fishermen, law enforcement, companies, citizens and other realities of civil society, such as neighbouring associations and environmental movements. Main goal is to build together a common strategy for the protection and evaluation of the territory.
Through the COASTRUST project, project partnership is experimenting with innovative models of coastal and marine management. Domus de Maria is one of the usual pilots, chosen also to follow the process of establishing the new protected area of Marina Capo Spartivento.
During the event, SUDEF illustrated the project’s activities and collected the participants’ basic inputs: criticisms, sustainable management proposals and concrete actions that will be included in future management agreements. These inputs will guide the next meeting with local stakeholders, scheduled for February, and will be the basis for future actions.
