The regional agency DUNEA organizes the first workshop for local stakeholders within the COASTRUST project, which aims to deal with environmental challenges caused by anthropogenic activity, promote the preservation of biological diversity and restore degraded coastal and marine ecosystems.

The purpose of the workshops is to provide key stakeholders in the Dubrovnik-Neretva County with the opportunity to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for effective management of the coast and natural resources, with an emphasis on sustainable use, preservation of biological diversity and restoration of degraded areas.
Through workshops, the project aims to encourage cooperation between all relevant stakeholders, with the aim of developing a common strategy for managing coastal areas and implementing coastal stewardship as a management model.

An important project activity is the establishment and work of a local working group with the aim of building capacity and developing the “Guidelines for preserving the biodiversity of the Neretva Valley”.

The workshops will be organized in 4 sessions from February 2025 until June 2025 at the latest, depending on the possibilities and deadlines of the organizers and local stakeholders.
Workshops will be organized to enable participants to exchange knowledge, experiences and best practices related to sustainable coastal management, conservation of marine ecosystems and biodiversity.
Through these activities, the goal is to motivate participants to take responsibility for environmental protection and participate in the implementation of sustainable practices at the local level.
These workshops represent a key step in the creation of strategies that will enable better protection of the coastal environment and contribute to the long-term sustainability of the region.

The first in a series of four workshops will be held on February 25, 2025 (Tuesday), starting at 10:00 a.m. in the premises of the City Cultural Center in Metković.
