From April 16 to 26, 2026, the Festival della Custodia took place in Latina, Italy, marking the culmination of the participatory phase of the CUSTODIRE project. Promoted by Circe APS, the project was funded by Roma Tre University – Department of Architecture, one of the COASTRUST project partners, through the Interreg Euro-MED COASTRUST project.
The festival brought together schools, associations, citizens, businesses, and local institutions in a shared experience of environmental care along the Sentiero di Circe. It represented the culmination of a participatory process built through dialogue, collaboration, and active engagement with the local community, combining environmental stewardship with education, inclusion, and active citizenship.
The programme began with the Stewardship Forum, where new trail signage developed through a participatory process involving students from G.B. Grassi Scientific High School was presented. The festival also featured an artistic and photographic exhibition, including the “Stewardship Notebooks” created by students, as well as cycling and walking activities along the Sentiero di Circe. Further opportunities for dialogue and exchange included the “Aperitivo with the Custodian” and the closing talk “Travel Notebooks, Stewardship Notebooks”, with the participation of Urban Sketchers Latina.
The festival marked a symbolic transition towards a new phase in which environmental care becomes a daily practice and a shared responsibility. It highlighted the importance of community involvement, active citizenship, and shared responsibility for environmental care.
